Introduction Freediving is designed for anyone curious about freediving and wanting to experience what it feels like calmly, safely, and without pressure. This one-day session introduces the fundamentals of freediving in the clear Atlantic waters around the Aran Islands.
It’s relaxed, beginner-friendly, and focused on comfort and enjoyment rather than performance or depth.
Introduction Freediving is fully integrated into our Level 1 Freediving programme.
If you enjoy the day and feel ready to continue, you can move straight into Day 2 and complete your Level 1 certification with the same instructor, same setting, and no repetition. This makes it an ideal way to start if you’re unsure whether a full certification is right for you.

This session follows the Apnea Total freediving education system, one of the long-established and widely taught freediving training organisations in the world, with schools in many countries and thousands of certified students.
Apnea Total focuses on personal progress, relaxation and safety, rather than rigid performance targets a teaching style that fits naturally with the calm rhythm of freediving around the Aran Islands.
All sessions are led by our freediving instructor Julia. Julia’s calm, supportive teaching style helps students feel comfortable and confident in the water, regardless of experience.
