As Instructor level, many trainees bring their own gear. This helps with consistency and comfort. It’s not strictly mandatory, but highly recommended. At minimum, bring:

  • Mask, snorkel, fins, wetsuit
  • Your Divemaster certification & logbook
  • Valid First Aid/CPR & Oxygen Provider certificate (SSI React Right or equivalent)
  • Medical clearance
  • Any personal dive gear you own (if possible)


Dive Aran offers equipment-rental for missing items and discounts for professional-level candidates.

During your course, you will:

  • Assist classes, workshops, and student training
  • Practice teaching and leadership skills
  • Dive daily, including presentations and scenario teaching
  • Work closely with instructor trainers to refine your style


Full Course Outline (9 Days)

1. Assistant Instructor Phase (Days 1-5):

  • Orientation + Academic Session: SSI and Instructor Roles
  • In-Water Teaching & Workshop (OW Diver / Skills Update)
  • Teaching Workshops: Perfect Buoyancy, Specialty Programs
  • Pool/Confined Water Presentations & Evaluations
  • Academic and Teaching Exam, Instructor Presentation Skills


2. Instructor Training Phase (Days 6-9):

  • Stress & Rescue / Teaching Dive Presentations
  • Dive Guide & Emergency Skills, Night/Deep Dives as applicable
  • Dive Leadership Evaluations, Business of Diving, Professional Conduct
  • Final Evaluations, Performance Review, Instructor Certification

You must be an Divemaster (or equivalent). You must also hold a valid First Aid & CPR certification (SSI React Right or equivalent). It can be completed with Dive Aran or another recognised provider. Certification is valid for 24 months.
