The Stress & Rescue Diver Course is where diving becomes more than exploration, it’s about responsibility, awareness, and teamwork.

This course is designed to make you a stronger, more capable diver, ready to recognise and prevent problems before they happen, and to respond effectively when they do. You’ll gain practical experience managing diver stress, performing rescues, and assisting others both underwater and on the surface.


After completion, you’ll earn your SSI Rescue Diver certification, a globally recognised qualification that demonstrates you can handle real-world diving situations safely and confidently.


To start this course, you must hold a valid First Aid & CPR certification (SSI React Right or equivalent, completed within the last 24 months).

The Rescue Diver course combines theory, pool practice, and open water scenarios:

  • Knowledge Development (eLearning) – Learn about dive safety, stress management, and emergency procedures.
  • Confined Water Training – Practice rescue skills in a safe, controlled environment.
  • Open Water Scenarios – Apply your skills in real-world settings, including managing panicked or unresponsive divers.
  • Self-rescue techniques
  • Recognising and managing stress in other divers
  • Emergency management and equipment use
  • Rescuing panicked divers
  • Assisting unresponsive divers underwater and at the surface
  • SSI Digital Materials (eLearning) available in many languages
  • Professional instruction by Dive Aran instructors

Day 1 (11:30 - 17:30)

  • Check-in at 11:30;  eLearning review 
  • Controlled environment rescue drills

Day 2 (08:00 - 15:00)

  • Realistic rescue simulations
  • Managing unresponsive divers
  • Emergency management & debrief

You must be an Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent).

You must also hold a valid First Aid & CPR certification (SSI React Right or equivalent). It can be completed with Dive Aran or another recognized provider. Certification is valid for 24 months.

As a certified Rescue Diver, you’ll be more confident in emergencies and prepared to assist others. This certification is also the foundation for becoming a Dive Professional (Divemaster) if you want to continue your training.

Yes. The SSI Rescue Diver certification is globally recognised, just like PADI and other agencies.

No. All scuba equipment is included in your course. If you have your own gear, you’re welcome to bring it.
