Join Dive Aran for a guided boat dive and discover some of the most stunning dive sites in the Atlantic Ocean.

Each trip is led by an experienced dive guide who will tailor your dive plan to suit your certification level, experience, and interests, as well as the conditions on the day.

Whether you’re looking for a relaxed exploration of kelp forests or an adventure dive along underwater cliffs, every dive is a unique experience.


Our boat fun dives run regularly throughout the season, weather permitting. Group sizes are limited, so we recommend booking well in advance.

Boat fun dives are designed for certified divers. You’ll need:

  • Proof of scuba license (photo acceptable)
  • Minimum certification: Open Water Diver (or equivalent)


Experience Requirements:

  • One (1) guided boat fun dive
  • Tank & weights
  • Access to changing rooms and shower
  • Experienced dive guide
  • Small group experience
  • Hot drink after the dive
  • Full equipment rental (available separately)
  • Snacks on board
  • Accommodation or transfers to Inis Mór

We also offer Private Group Dive Trips, tailored for groups from Ireland and abroad. Enjoy exclusive boat dives, flexible schedules, and island adventures designed for divers and non-divers.

Check-In

Arrive at Dive Aran by 08:00, 11:30, or 14:30 based on your booked slot. You’ll be greeted by our team and given a gear box and changing space.

Dive Briefind

A briefing will take place approximately 20 minutes before we depart the dive center.

Boat Departure

A boat will depart from the front of the dive center at 09:00, 12:30, and 15:30.

Scuba Diving

Dive time 45 min.

Boat Return

The boat ride typically lasts 10 to 15 minutes each way, with a return time of approximately 2 hours after departure.

Check-Out

The times of 11:00, 14:30, and 17:00 depend on the specific dive trip you have booked.

No. Boat Fun Dives are for certified divers only.

  • Our dive boat departs directly from the pier in front of the Dive Aran dive centre on Inis Mór. 
  • Each trip includes one dive, with the site chosen according to daily conditions for the best possible experience.
  • We keep groups small and personal, ensuring safe and enjoyable dives.

We take a maximum of 5 divers + 1 Dive Aran guide (6 in total) to ensure comfort and safety.

Yes. All of our dives are fully guided by an experienced instructor or dive guide.

Yes. Full scuba equipment rental is available, including: Wetsuit (7mm), Boots (5mm), Gloves (3mm), Mask, fins, snorkel, Regulator set, BCD. Rental Price: €35 per person/day.

It’s possible! Basking sharks are often spotted around the Aran Islands, especially in spring and early autumn.

It ranges from around 10°C (50°F) in spring to 18°C (65°F) in late summer.

The list is long! Divers often encounter grey seals, lobsters, crayfish, wrasse, cuckoo wrasse, and dogfish/cat sharks. With luck, you might also see basking sharks, dolphins, or even whales or a sunfish.

Yes. Our guides will tailor the dive plan to suit your certification level and experience.

Visibility can range from 5 metres (17 feet) to over 20 metres, depending on conditions.

We use 12L steel tanks with single-valve DIN or Yoke fittings.

No, Nitrox is not available at Dive Aran.

No. We use 7mm wetsuits year-round, with an additional 5mm shorty available if needed.

Yes. Dives finish at around 3 pm, giving you enough time to change and catch the ferry. However, dives started at 14:30 are too late for ferry at 16:00
