Kilmurvey Baech
Snorkelling in Kilmurvey bay is a relaxed, shore-based adventure ideal for first timers, families, and anyone curious about the ocean. Guided by our certified freediving instructor, you’ll learn how to use your mask, snorkel, and fins safely while exploring calm, shallow waters filled with colourful seaweed and small marine life.
Located near Dún Aonghasa and Kilmurvey Beach, this experience is ideal for visitors looking for a relaxed outdoor activity between ferries, cycling stops, or beach time.
It’s a gentle, confidence-building introduction to the Atlantic, perfect as a first step before trying Wildlife Snorkelling or scuba diving.
At Dive Aran, we believe in respectful interaction with the ocean and its inhabitants.
Our Kilmurvey Snorkelling sessions take place in calm, shallow areas where marine life is small and peaceful.
While larger wildlife like seals sometimes live nearby, they rarely visit these shallow bays making this an ideal, reassuring choice for families and younger snorkelers.

Your session begins at Kilmurvey Bay where you’ll meet your guide and get fitted with equipment before a short safety briefing on the beach.
Once in the water, we snorkel along the sheltered rocky shoreline, exploring seaweed-covered reefs, shallow rock pools, and the clear Atlantic water around the bay. Depending on conditions, you may spot small fish, crabs, starfish, and other local marine life.
This is not a fast-paced activity. The focus is on enjoying the water, feeling comfortable, and discovering the quieter side of Inis Mór at a relaxed pace.
Allow approximately 2 hrs in total, with around 45 min spent in the water.
